They eventually do become free. The Heroic Map pack is now free. But there is a Legendary Map pack as well that's 800 points I believe. Halo maps every come out for free?

It's possible that the legendary maps will be free when the mythic maps come out in Q1 2009 (or so i believe) or when Halo 3:Recon arrives
